Brand new account verification procedures to make your life easier!

Attention US and International members,

Have you been awaiting account verification? Or have you been thinking about getting your account verified? If so, please keep reading!

We are proud to announce that we are launching a new, improved and fully automated verification process. However, if you have been waiting to get verified, you will have to follow the new procedures as the documents you previously submitted will not be reviewed. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause but these procedures are way easier and way faster!

Members who have not submitted verification documents only need to follow the new procedures.

US members will have to complete two of the three following procedures:

• Bank account confirmation consists of adding your bank account details to your AlertPay account, receiving two micro deposits in your bank account (under $0.15 each) and confirming them. This will take no longer than 5 business days.

• For credit card validation, we will send $0.01 to your Visa or MasterCard. A six-digit code will appear on your credit card statement next to the micro payment. You will have to confirm this code in your AlertPay account. If you have an American Express card, a refundable amount between $1.00-2.00 will be charged to your card. You will have to confirm the exact amount in your AlertPay account.

• Phone validation is the simplest procedure. All you have to do is choose or enter a phone number (mobile and land lines only), wait a few moments to receive a code by phone call or text and enter the code in your AlertPay account. That’s all!

International members will have to complete either credit card validation (as seen above) or phone validation. The only difference is that for phone validation, you will receive a text message and not a phone call. You must have a mobile phone to complete this procedure.

If you have a Business account, you will also have to submit a proof of ownership:

• Article of Incorporation
• General Business Registration
• Certificate of Good Standing
• Doing Business As
• Tax Registration

After completing the necessary procedures, your account will be verified within 5 business days. You will enjoy better account security, faster deposits and withdrawals, higher transaction limits and uninterrupted transactions!

To get started, login to your account, click on “Profile” and select “Verification” under the “Personal” category.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Customer Support or leave a comment on our Facebook fan page.

Thank your for your understanding.

Finally -- We're launching the new website very soon!

Hi everyone,

I know we promised a brand spanking new website some months ago, but there have been a few delays. Luckily, we've been using our time very wisely on improving AlertPay.com and we hope that you will be happy with the results!

Here is a break-down of what you can expect:

More content
AlertPay.com will have more pages on features, security tips, fraud prevention measures and more. Even a top 10 list of all the great things for which you can use your AlertPay account.

Never before have we offered so much useful content to our members!

User documentation
Aside from offering more web pages with brand new content, we will also offer an array of documentation for sellers and buyers alike, including a Seller guide with lots of "how-to" information, as well as the same for Shoppers. We will also offer corporate marketing documentation to prospective online sellers.

Also available will be a quick and easy tutorial: one for sellers and one for buyers. It sums up what you can do with an account in a handful of simple steps.

New languages
Available as soon as we launch the new website is a completely French version of AlertPay.com! Since we are located in Quebec, it is necessary for us to translate our site into French, but we hope to offer even more languages in the future, so stay tuned.

Your account
Once we launch, you will notice our new and improved user interface. Although the process you have to follow to complete certain tasks, like adding a bank account or sending a payment, is the same, the new interface is much more attractive and efficient.

Our goal is to make our products and services as easy to use as possible.

A new logo
This one is top secret, so wait and see!

That's all we can say for now, but stay tuned for more teasers and updates. Are you excited yet?

Thank you for making AlertPay your way to pay!

Firoz (erroneously called "Siroz") discusses AlertPay and what we have to offer the world of online payments: 190+ countries supported, 23 currencies, APIs for developers and outstanding customer support.

Showing people the money
Patel Brothers' Internet payment system has exploded in popularity

By JASON MAGDER, The Gazette November 1, 2010

Pilt
Brothers Firoz (left) and Ferhan Patel poured their life savings into starting AlertPay in 2004. Now, the Internet payment company offers its services in more than 197 countries and has about 5 million users, with 4,500 new users signing on per day.
Photograph by: Marie-France Coallier, The Gazette

It's hard to believe it now, but there was a time when brothers Firoz, 36, and Ferhan Patel, 30, had to fire themselves so they could afford to run their business.

The brothers, who grew up in Brossard, started AlertPay, an Internet payment company similar to PayPal, in 2004 and poured their life savings into the venture.

"We only had a certain amount of money we could invest, so in order to make it last, we fired ourselves and one of our directors fired himself and we all went on EI," Ferhan Patel, the company's chief operating officer, recalled from the boardroom of the company's modest offices on the ground floor of an office building on Mountain Sights Ave. in Snowdon.

"Those were interesting times. If it didn't work, we'd be screwed. We had just drained all our expenses."

AlertPay has always been self-financed, but Ferhan said that hasn't been too difficult because the company has turned a profit from the first day it launched.

The business idea grew from a previous business: marketing software the brothers developed to track the number of clicks on website banner advertisements.

The brothers noticed a need for a different kind of Internet payment system because of frustrations they and several of their customers had with continually having their memberships terminated through a mistaken belief they were committing fraud.

"We kept getting shut down for absolutely frivolous reasons," said Firoz, the company's chief executive officer.

"We worked with several multilevel marketing companies, but PayPal tended to shut down any multi-level marketing company, or even any company that had those words written on their site, as we did.

"They wanted to protect against pyramid schemes, but there are many MLMs, like Avon, for example, which are legitimate businesses."

Several of the Patels' clients asked them to come up with a solution so they could have some sort of Internet payment system. The brothers decided to cease all other operations and develop an Internet payment system that could serve as an alternative to PayPal.

"These were not small-market people we were talking about. These were merchants that could bring thousands of clients to us," Firoz said.

It took several months to develop the software, but once they did, it took off.

AlertPay at first only focused on credit cards and bank transfers, but then saw there was a need to develop a system for corporate payouts.

"It's for companies who have a need to send money to all the people they owe commission or payments to, or some sort of earnings to, around the world. We have set up at a local point almost everywhere in the world.

"It's through the Web, but ultimately, it needs to get to a bank point."

AlertPay is now present in 197 countries and has 5 million total users, though that figure is growing by about 4,500 per day. Impressive numbers to be sure, but they're dwarfed with those of PayPal, which although it's only available in 190 countries, has more than 150 million users.

"PayPal is in their own domain," Ferhan said.

"We're in the same marketplace as them, but we're not trying to follow their path; we're trying to carve out our own path. We also serve a bit of a different market. We tell people if they have PayPal, they should try AlertPay, because it can bring them a segment of the market they never would have had access to before."

AlertPay offers several services not offered by PayPal. It has bank wires, money orders and certified cheques, and since June, all members can pay through a credit card, or withdraw money onto their own credit cards.

AlertPay is also working to be the payment method of choice for cities adapting their parking meters for payment by smart-phones.

The company won the contracts to provide services for the cities of Lethbridge, Alta., Saskatoon,

Sask., and West Palm Beach, Fla. AlertPay expects to add two other North American cities in the coming months, and estimates the agreements will generate $30 million in mobile payments in the next two years.

Every new AlertPay membership potentially leads to exponential growth, because when merchants add AlertPay as a method of payment, many of their customers also add AlertPay, and often, the merchant's competitors also join so as not to cede a competitive advantage.

Since AlertPay launched its revamped website in June to make it more user-friendly, the growth in new memberships has been tremendous.

The brothers say this is the fastest growth the company has ever experienced.

In September, payment volume increased 38 per cent from August, while transaction volume was up by 23 per cent and deposit volume went up by 40 per cent. This resulted in a revenue increase of 35 per cent on the month.

"Our growth has always been very viral," Ferhan said.

"But our recent growth has been a pleasant surprise.

"Calls are through the roof. Emails are through the roof. We're seeing a record number of transactions, and there's a lot of Alert-Pay chatter."

And because of that growth, AlertPay is hiring in all departments: customer service, programmers, and sales.

The brothers will also opening their first satellite office in Mumbai, India in the next few months in order to give the company a foothold in one of its fastest-growing markets.
The Indian office will begin with 20 employees, but it has a capacity for 180

Through all the years of working closely together dealing with the stress of managing a growing company, the brothers say they have never had a fight, and both say they have never found it difficult to work with family.

"It's great, actually," Firoz said. "It's not everyone that has this kind of relationship.

"We have to make sure we have that respect between us, and we carry on from there."

"We make sure we have distinct jobs and responsibilities," Ferhan said.

"We made things clear from Day 1. Maybe we had some things growing up, like your typical sibling rivalry stuff, but that's never happened at the office."

Attention members outside of North America: new and improved verification processes!
Hi international members,

For members located outside North America ONLY!

***************************
Please note that those of you who have already begun the verification process will not have to complete the new procedures. Just continue as you would normally.
***************************

Due to popular demand, we have gone back to the drawing board to further improve our verification processes so you can verify your account quickly and easily. Here is a break-down of the changes we have made:

You will now have three options to choose from to complete international account verification; you must complete ONE of these options only:

Option A: Bank transfer OR bank wire deposit
If you choose this option, you will not have to add your bank account again for subsequent deposits or withdrawals. You will have to deposit a minimum amount of $50 USD (or equivalent) if you select this option.

Option B: Credit card validation
This process will remain unchanged. With this option, you will either receive a code with a very small deposit or a charge within a few business days depending on what kind of card you are attempting to verify.

Option C: Phone validation AND check withdrawal
For this option, you will be required to complete phone validation and a check withdrawal, so a balance in your AlertPay account will be necessary.
For phone validation, you will either receive a text message or a phone call with a code that you must enter in your AlertPay account.
For check withdrawal, you must withdraw a minimum amount of $20 USD. On your check, you will see a code in or around the "Memo" field, so make sure to enter this code in the verification section of your AlertPay account. Please ensure that you will be able to deposit a USD check into your AlertPay account.

We hope that this process will be a lot faster and easier for you. We will continue to improve these processes until they are as seamless as possible.

Please note that if you are a Business-account holder then you will also have to submit business verification documents, such as ONE of the following:

- Article of Incorporation
- General Business Registration
- Certificate of Good Standing
- Doing Business As
- Tax Registration

To start the verification process, just follow these steps:

1. Login to your AlertPay account.
2. Under “Profile”, click on “Personal”.
3. Select “Verification”.
4. Complete as many verification procedures as specified on the page.
5. If you have a Business account, you must also submit a proof of ownership for your business.

It's that easy! If you have any questions or comments, please send us a support ticket or visit our Facebook page.

Thank you for choosing AlertPay!

The Estonian Kroon to be replaced by Euro on January 1, 2011

Hi members,

We just wanted to let all of you know that as of January 1, 2011, the Estonian Kroon will be replaced by the Euro. Yes, that's right -- the Estonian Kroon will be no more.

You can read a little more about it in the Wall Street Journal

And if you have A LOT of time on your hands, don't forget to pay your respects to the Kroon by reading this obituary by Fredrik Erixon, Director and co-founder of the European Centre for International Political Economy.

Best of luck to our Estonian members in the adoption of the Euro.

Lõpuks ometi viis Alertpay vastavusse ka Eesti teenustasude lehe.

Üleminek Eurole muutis kontosisesed teenustasud ja teenustasuvaba deposiidi summad tiba väiksemaks. See vahe ei ole märgatav, kuid siiski.. Enne võeti Pro ja Business konto omanikel iga kontosisese laekumise eest teenustasu 2,50 % + 3,95 EEK. Nüüdsest 2,50 % + €0,25 EUR (3,92 EEK). Deponeerimine oli enne teenustasuta al. 800 EEK. Nüüdsest on see tasuta al. €50,00 EUR (782,33 EEK).

Ka raha välja võtmine panka või krediitkaardile muutub odavamaks juhul, kui AlertPay kontol on raha EUR-ides, sest vahelt kaovad valuutavahetuse teenustasud, mida enne võeti kroonidesse konverteerimisel: hetkekurss (wholesale exchange rate) + AlertPay enda konverteerimistasu 2,5%.

Siin on uued teenustasud:

AlertPay launches 3-D Secure for safer online credit card payments

We are proud to launch a brand new feature this week: 3-D Secure for all payments made by Visa or MasterCard.

Under the name "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode", 3-D Secure is an XML-based protocol designed as an extra layer of security for online credit/debit card transactions. It allows participating financial institutions identify who is making the payment and whether or not they are the authorized credit card holder.

The intention behind the creation of this feature is to enhance security when making payments online.

This is a screen shot of what the screen looks like when you are asked for your 3-D Secure password/code:

Pilt

How it works with AlertPay

When using the Send Money or Email Invoice features, making a payment through checkout or responding to a money request, the sender or receiver will be asked to enter their 3-D Secure password or security code. If they do not yet have a code/password, they will be prompted to enroll in the program to create one.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not everyone with a Visa or MasterCard will be asked to enter a 3-D Secure password/code; only people with cards from participating banks will be asked for a password/code.
Another important thing to note is that this is a security measure imposed by the various participating financial institutions and not by AlertPay, so if you require any assistance with your 3-D Secure password/code, you will have to contact your card issuer.

Benefits

- Merchants benefit from the reduction of "unauthorized transaction" chargebacks.
- Buyers and credit card holders benefit from the decreased risk of other people using their card to commit fraud.

We have implemented this feature as part of our unfaltering commitment to online security and customer confidence. We hope that this enhances your online experience with us and your merchant(s).

New AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card

Pilt

As always, the AlertPay team is working hard to provide our members with the products and tools they need to make online payment processing safe and efficient. That is why we are pleased to announce the pre-registration phase for our new AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card is now open.

What is the AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card all about?

The AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card is a new way for AlertPay members to access the funds in their e-wallets quickly and conveniently, no matter where in the world they are located. The card, which will be available in both CAD and USD currencies, will allow members to instantly load funds on to the card from their e-wallet, and spend or withdraw money at any debit machine or merchant that processes VISA.

Members can load up to $5,000 CAD or USD on to the card, directly from their AlertPay E-Wallet, and shop anywhere VISA cards are accepted. This new product will allow our members to make online or in-store purchases anywhere in the world without exposing their personal information.

To protect shoppers making in-store purchases, the cards are protected by a PIN code. Before an in-store purchase can be completed, the AlertPay member must enter the PIN code to confirm their identity.

AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card holders have all the benefits of having a credit card with none of the hassle! There is no monthly payment and no interest.

How do I know if I am eligible to pre-register for the AlertPay Card?

Pre-registration for the cards is now open to select AlertPay members in nearly 50 countries, but the number of cards available per country is limited.
Members will be notified that they can pre-register by a banner that will be displayed when they log in to their AlertPay account. If you are interested in trying our new and exciting payment option, all you have to do is click on the banner and follow the simple steps to pre-register! There are no fees associated with pre-registering for the card and no card activation fee.

How much will the card cost, once it is available? The AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card will be available for ordering in January 2012 at the cost of $19.95 USD.

Can anyone in the eligible countries order a USD card? Yes ! The card is in USD currency and it can be used anywhere in the world.

Why are not all countries eligible? Eligible countries were established based on the limited number of cards available for delivery in the first batch scheduled for January 2012. More cards will be made available to additional countries shortly.

Want to learn more? Check out the list of countries where the AlertPay PrePaid Debit Card is available and learn about fees and limits.

AlertPay's New Resolution Center

Have you ever not received what you paid for? Have you ever had a problem with an online seller not delivering what they promised? AlertPay is here to help!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our Resolution Center, a new member's area designated to resolving disputes between shoppers and merchants, where our members can file, respond to and resolve disputes. A dedicated team of Resolutions Specialists are also on hand to moderate those disputes members cannot resolve on their own.

Why file a dispute?
* You did not receive your product or service.
* You received something different than what you paid for.
* Delivery of your product/service was significantly delayed.

We are committed to creating a safe and trustworthy environment for all of our members. Opening a dispute through our Resolution Center will allow both parties involved to communicate directly and reach a solution they can both agree on. The Resolution Center is there to protect the customer from fraudulent sellers and protect the seller from false allegations of fraud.

A purchase is a purchase!
Did you know that 85% of online purchases are services? Did you also know that PayPal does not allow transaction disputes on purchased services?

A problem can equally arise when you purchase a product OR a service. If your purchase was not delivered or rendered by the merchant as stated at the time of your transaction, then you can file a dispute. At AlertPay, we are committed to a fair, transparent and equally accessible dispute resolution process for all of our members!

It is easy to manage your disputes:
* Direct communication between both parties.
* Real-time updates on the status of your dispute.
* Full record of all past communications and disputes.

You can manage multiple disputes and track every step of the process - from the moment you file a dispute to the instant it is resolved.

Rest assured - you are being heard!
The Resolution Center is also supported by a dedicated team of Resolutions Specialists who will moderate the disputes members cannot resolve on their own. Please visit alertpay.com/en/ResolutionCenter.aspx to learn more about the Resolution Center and the terms and conditions for filing a dispute.

Shop safely online
While we do what we can to protect you and your purchases, you can prevent any problems from arising in the first place by conducting your own due diligence. For more information, check back here next week for a feature on safe online shopping!

User Agreement Update

Since the launch of the Payza platform, the Payza Board of Directors has been evaluating all existing and developing market and regulatory conditions in relation to the company’s performance strategy. Because the mission of Payza is to provide the best customer experience in the global online payment processing industry, the Board has identified important emerging business sectors that will foster new payment routes for all of our customers and has mandated the continued development of Payza’s authorized exchangers list. Additional resources have also been allocated to improving customer satisfaction and the processes necessary to resolving outstanding client issues.

As a result of this evaluation, certain sectors currently experiencing increasingly strict regulatory conditions have been recategorized. In order to provide all Payza members with the most secure and stable platform, an amendment to Section 6.02 of the User Agreement has been effectuated:
Section 6.02 – Activities Not Allowed
  • Any indication or demonstration of a literal rate of return on a contribution, payment or investment, while not being licensed to sell or solicit.
  • Selling of Unregistered/Unlicensed Stocks, bonds, securities, options, futures, or investments in any entity or property, including (but not limited to) corporations and partnerships or sole proprietorship, are prohibited:
Solicitation, marketing campaign, direct selling or any other comparative effort will be considered a violation of the User Agreement. If you are registered or licensed to take such action, you may be requested to present documentation demonstrating authority to do so from a Securities Exchange Commission, Commodities Futures Trading Commission or other equal and comparative agency.
Payza is committed to providing all of its members, individuals and businesses alike, with the most secure and convenient platform with which to transact online. The Board of Directors is continually exploring new services and options for the company and its customers, and has as a dedicated mandate the implementation and optimization of the best of these new opportunities. Please stay tuned for the latest in our business offerings!
